If you think your energy bill is a fixed cost that's out of your control, then think again. That's the message to UK businesses from a new Inprova Energy e-guide that details four steps energy managers can take to understand and profile their organisation's power use.

"By monitoring, analysing and understanding how you use energy, you can understand where wastage may be occurring," says Kerry Hamilton, Inprova's Head of Energy and Environment. "It's then possible to take action to reduce both waste and cost."

Taking the time to understand patterns of energy use is invaluable in forming an energy strategy and forecasting demand, says Inprova. And it can also help an organisation move its energy load away from peak charging hours.
