Much of the responsibility for keeping a check on the
energy consumption of industrial and commercial
premises lies with the Facilities Manager. However,
building management specialist Optimised Buildings
maintains that it has recognised a general lack of
understanding of how BEMS should operate, with the
result that some end users are paying more for their
energy than they need.
FMs are typically responsible for up to 80 per cent
of the total energy being consumed in commercial
buildings, says the company, with up to half of this
being managed through the Building Energy Management
System.
To help educate maintenance and FM teams in the art
of operating and understanding a BEMS, Optimised
Buildings has announced its first modular BEMS
eLearning training course, covering a comprehensive
range of activities designed to deliver efficient
energy use in buildings. You can read more about this
